GS3 - Joe Song - Artist Biography

Hello to all.
This is my third assignment for this course(sorry for the delay Geoffrey.)
For this section of the course, I decided to just be experimental and take a risk by trying something new.
This video is a record of what works I created. However, I do not show my past works for they are all terminated or lost.
So with the wonders of video editing, I decided to have you guys imagine what kind of artworks they were with text and sound.

enjoy and happy summers.

sj3

my original idea consisted of the light sensor activating the laser to make the image from the master hologram visible. After this idea failed i just used the sensor to activate regular light (lamp) when the main source of light (room) is shut. since i am dealing with a rainbow hologram the light has to iluminate it from behind.

SJ3: fetal development projection

Sheena and I did a collaboration where we were supposed to do a performance of interacting with the projector. while we stoped the light switch with our flashlights. We didn't hacve long enough cords so we made adjusments and projected it onto the black broad.
while the song paint by numbers played as the audio.
It had a 80s sex ed video for a 7th grade class meets 80s music video aesthetic.
The performance was we were supposed to have it projected on us as we both wore sheet the heart would go over our own hearts and the fetus developing would go on our stomachs whil we held it and turned from side to side.
However the music video aesthetic worked as well as a minor adjustment.

JD2: Snarling flowers

My idea origianlly was to play off of Georgia O keefe's vagina flowers in aesthetic and function by apropriating her paintings and making them open and close yoni style while making very ridiculous and monty python like meep meep sounds
that would form into a symphony.
However it has been changed since. After much attempts and much freak outs I changed the idea to.... flowers that I animated for the most parts (except for the purple one) to these very pretty but also thorny almost cartoon like flowers .....
that aren't as delicate as they look.
If you touch them they growl and snarl at you and even scream.
So it is taking something that is delicate and onsidered feminine (by association of it being pretty and prim)
and arming it making it dangerous instead of just decoration.
I also thought it would be funny to have growling flowers....

It probabaly comes from wishful thinking of If I lived in upside down world and I was its ruler: flowers would all be vicous
they would snarl and growl and bite and be man eating creatures the size of a long stemmed rose.

It took forever to get this up cause I was having trouble with fetch and finally figured it out. I can now say I hate fetch with a passion!.
So here is my instrument.

GS1: PIC COMPUHEADMARISH

Okay
so I kinda veered from the idea I had originally.
The idea at first was to make a computer head that was interactive
and likening computer to humans blah blah blah.
Well there was one thing that was moved over from that idea to this. A head.
I made a cast of my head and used foam as a mould. I wanted to create the experience of looking into someones head and seeing their outmost thought and nightmares....
I used apropriated footage of warner brothers cartoons... as well as my own animations.
I wanted to create the experience of someone looking into my head and seeing night mares on loop, but all happy and colourfull
with darker underlying intentions.

If you're feeling lonely, or you house seems quiet, this piece will help. The two little flash fellas just make noise spontaneously, and might even sing together. Let it play and confuse your friends, roommates, or parents.

Soothing company and a randomized musical instrument.

GS3

I made felt from my dog's fur.
My dog's name is Audrey.

Over the course of a week and a half I collectet tufts of fur from around the house and brushed her daily, in total I had about a shoe box full of her soft winter under-coat that she is shedding now that the weather is finally warming.
I next followed the procedure of wet felting (http://www.allfiberarts.com/library/felt/blfelt.htm that isn't exactly the process I used, but a close approximation).
After a good amount of time the felt began to come together and though it was very fragile I deemed it finished.
I allowed it to dry over night and then mounted it to some fabric for structural support.

I prefer to leave this up for discussion, but the main issues I was thinking about while making this are the questions of what is an acceptable fabric to wear, we are so quick to wear a sweater made of sheep's wool, but if someone were to suggest wearing the hair of a poodle it would not go over too well. What separates a pet from an animal that we feel no unease or remorse wearing or eating?

GS3- an experiment by Angela

The experience I created involved some window clingers, window-writing markers and class participation. I printed about 30 characters performing different actions onto window clingers and stuck them on the glass around the room. I then asked my classmates to take the markers and draw or write a story involving these characters on the windows. I wanted to make a sort of collaborative stained glass piece.
The end result was not what I had envisioned and involved a lot of profanity for some reason, but I was pleased with the unexpected responses because I felt like people were not censoring themselves, they were being honest.
At the end, I revealed that I had purposefully changed the colour of each character's clothing to pink (all the characters were male) to see if this would come out in the things drawn and written, but it didn't really. This was just sort of a hidden experiment I did to see if people would pick up on something unusual, or if it would go unnoticed or be perceived as insignificant.
All in all, I wanted to create an experience that caused people to revert to a child-like state and I wanted to create an opportunity to express feelings and ideas through an activity that is usually prohibited (drawing on school property).

Re: GS3 SJ3 BY AARON MANCYZK, CHRISTOPHER SHANNON AND MELISSA HAMONIC.

The assignment was to create an experience. We decided that we wanted to provide our fellow classmates with a collectively familiar experience. The School Dance was that experience. At 13:45 we dimmed the lights, set up a boom box and strobe light, served punch and danced to Ready 2 Wear by Felix da Housecat followed by Chris DeBurgh's Lady In Red

Highlights:
snowball dance, an empty punch bowl within approx. 5 min, awkwardness.

SJ 3

yo.
i will attempt to make a project of voyeurism. i want to make a light switch which is in a door to a room with an installation inside. if the viewer attempts to go through the door the installation is turned off(a video on a projector)

in order to see the installation, the viewer must find a way to avoid the light switch to kinda of peak around without getting caught by the sensors which will be turned off by their shadow as they approach. the installation itself will be a live feed Of the webcam, being captured and watched by a person observing the webcam feed on a computer.
through this emphasis is placed on the role of the viewer and tension between viewer and viewee.

Musical Instrument

My musical instrument involves intuition and intrigue. You have to use your mind and your body wholeheartedly in a symbiotic relationship of killing prowess that is often only found in the utmost of fantastical human specimens.

Birds fly across the screen , you shoot them, and a national anthem plays.

Here it be
