JD 1 - Joe Song - assignment 1

For this assignment I recorded sounds from my room of me doing things such as clicking the mouse shuffling books and eating and flushing the toilet in the washroom. I found the my room part quite dull so I played around with it using Goldwave and got this amazing car sound using the filters and dynamics. After getting this product, I decided to incorporate the similar features to the toilet sound too and tweaked it with Goldwave and a music composing program called FL Studio. Finally I added an original song I made long time ago using Beaterator courtesy of Rockstar Games and voila the assignment is born. The photo was taken from Google and later altered using Photoshop. I wanted to show the monstrosity of how toilet water and car engines can be as equally gigantic interms of sound.

We listened to the sound in class before you arrived, and were impressed with its complexity and nuances. You've got a lovely file here, however I'm not sure quite how it would work within the context of an instrument. Perhaps you can slice bits, or isolate threads and "voices" from the sound, so that the mix happens when the user rolls over areas. Nice work, and thanks for the heads up on the sound edit software!
